RIDE Refund Policies

  • Required deposit is 50% of the program fee (Early-Bird/Standard/Last Chance).

    • From September 26th to October 15th, 2023:

      • 100% refund of the 50% deposit is available for cancellations made during this period.

    • From October 16th to October 31st:

      • 50% refund of the 50% deposit is available for cancellations made during this period.

    • From November 1st to November 30th, 2023:

      • 25% refund of the 50% deposit is available for cancellations made during this period.

    • Full payment of the program fee due on December 1st, 2023.

  • The full payment of the program fee depends on whether you are registered as Early-Bird, Standard, or Last Chance. The 50% deposit will be deducted at the time of full payment of the program fee.

    • From December 1st to December 15th, 2023:

      • 50% refund of the full program fee for cancellations made during this period.

    • From December 16th, 2023 to Dec 31st, 2023:

      • 25% refund of the full program fee for cancellations made during this period.

    • From January 1st onwards:

      • No refunds for cancellations made on January 1st onwards.

    This policy is designed to be fair to both RIDE and participants, allowing for reasonable refunds for cancellations made in advance while accounting for the planning and commitments made by RIDE as the program's start date approaches.

  • Payment Schedule: The CU Kenya Trek '24 program requires a 50% deposit of the program fee (Early-Bird/Standard/Last Chance). Payment of the deposit is due upon registration. The full program fee must be paid on or before December 1st, 2023. Accepted Payment Methods: Credit or Debit Card. Eligibility: The CU Kenya Trek '24 is open to Columbia University graduate students at SIPA, CBS, Law, and related departments. Program Inclusions: The program fee includes: Accommodation, Three meals per day, Daily drinking water, In-country transportation, All accommodations, program-sponsored excursions and activities, Local guides and experts. Program Exclusions: The program fee does not cover: International flights to/from Kenya (estimated at $1,200), Visa fees (estimated at $50), Vaccination costs (estimated at $100), Personal expenses, gifts, and souvenirs. Health and Travel Insurance: Participants are strongly recommended to have comprehensive health and travel insurance. Insurance requirements may apply, and participants must provide proof of coverage. Visa and Travel Documents: Participants are responsible for obtaining any necessary visas and travel documents for Kenya. It is advised to complete these requirements well in advance of the program start date. More guidance will be given to participants prior to the program. Health and Safety: Participants are responsible for their own health and safety. Vaccinations and medical considerations are advised. Participants should consult with healthcare professionals. Compliance with local health guidelines and laws is mandatory. Code of Conduct: Participants are expected to: Respect local customs and traditions. Adhere to RIDE's values and principles. Consequences for violations will be enforced. Emergency Contact Information: Emergency contact information will be provided for participants to reach out to in case of urgent issues during the program. Cancellation Policy: Cancellation is subject to refund policies outlined in the official refund policy document. Participants must review and accept the refund policy upon registration. Itinerary Changes: The program's itinerary may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances or events beyond RIDE's control. Participants will be informed of any changes. Participant Responsibility: Participants are responsible for their actions, health, and safety during the program. Media Release:Participants consent to the use of their images or stories for promotional purposes by RIDE unless otherwise specified in writing. Travel Advisories: Participants are advised to monitor travel advisories and follow government travel recommendations related to Kenya. Travel Insurance Claims: Participants will receive guidance on how to initiate insurance claims in case of emergencies or unexpected events during the trip. Local Currency and Expenses: Information on currency exchange and handling local expenses will be provided during the program.
