At RIDE International… We Advocate for Local Collaboration, Community Outreach, Environmental Sustainability, and Developmental Transparency
At RIDE, we believe in fostering collaborative relationships that prioritize ethical research for mutual benefits, driving sustainable economic opportunities and advancing models of economic justice for marginalized communities. Our commitment to addressing urgent environmental challenges is accompanied by transparent communication, localized engagement, and a dedication to promoting social, economic, and environmental sustainability in all our endeavors.
Our Core Values
Community Empowerment
We are dedicated to conducting research that benefits both our students and the communities we serve. Ethical research for mutual benefits - creating sustainable economic opportunities and advancing models of economic justice for marginalized communities.
Environmental Sustainability
Addressing climate change urgently, we examine its effects in the regions we work in and continually assess and improve our own carbon footprint and environmental practices. With an unwavering commitment to preserving the natural world, we strive to leave a positive impact on the planet and inspire others to do the same.
Localization
Recognizing the power of community, we plan to expand gradually while respecting local contexts, embracing the motto "Think global. Act local." Our approach involves collaborating with local experts, hiring staff from the communities we serve, and fostering partnerships that empower the regions we operate in.
Transparency & Compassion
Providing complete visibility into our organization's successes and challenges, we communicate with unwavering candor, honesty, and respect, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability across functions. We are honest, open, ethical, and fair.
Symbol of RIDE: Seso Wo Suban
The logo of our organization is based on the emblem 'Sesa Wo Suban' (se-sa wo su-ban), which is part of the renowned Adinkra symbols. The Adinkra emerged from the historic Ashanti Kingdom (present-day Ghana) and represents cultural concepts and aphorisms. The Sesa Wo Suban symbol means "transform your character," signifying personal reflection and transformation. This symbol is a composition of two symbols: the inner star, which represents a new day, and an outer wheel, which implies initiative and moving forward. Sesa Wo Suban encourages people, especially the youth, to make a positive impact on the world through their actions, making it the ideal visual representation of RIDE's intended mission.
